Thesis Statement: The Three Main Effects of Hurricane Sandy that Affected Jamaica were Rainfall Induced Flooding, Storm Surges and Winds On October 22, 2012, it was announced by The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM,) that a tropical depression (Sandy) was headed towards the shores of Jamaica and that the arrival to our shores would be on October 24.
Hurricane Irene occurred between the months of August and September 2011. Initially, it began as a tropical wave in the tropical Atlantic Ocean. It spread as light wind shear and warm water and later gained strengthened as entered the inland. Its effects were heavily felt in New York and North Carolina.
